Finally, after 3 long years, we can say that the Korean electronics giant is back on top in Q3 of 2020. They have sold more phones in America than any other company, including Apple.
Between July and September, Reports from The Korea Herald suggesting that Samsung have taken 33.7% of the market share in the US.
Apples comes second with only 30.2% share and third is surprisingly goes to LG with 14.7%. we didn’t realize that LG was making big moves in the US market, however in past few months it has received a lot of press coverage with their wild designs like its Wing phone:
Would I buy or recommend one? No. but I am happy their risk are paying off.
Samsung taking the top spot from Apple is due to their budget phone success, also with some successful high-end phone launches.
Before we pop the champagne and celebrate Samsung’s success in the Q3 of 2020, we should take this news with a pinch of salt.
Obviously this year is unique in every industry, so Q3 is only a period of 3 months, and it is worth mentioning that Apple had to delay their usually September launch to October due to the supply chain issue caused by the pandemic.
The boost in sales we usually see for Apple in Q3 has been pushed to Q4. In other words, I would be very surprised if Christmas numbers for Apple didn’t destroy Samsung’s and take back its throne. Be that as it may, this is still interesting news. We have disruption in the American phone market share.
